The open road between Perth and Melbourne is one of Australia’s epic road trips. The road takes you across the southern coastland of Australia, passing through red sands, charming towns, stunning beaches and ocean views. Plus, there’s a two night stay exploring Kangaroo Island.

Along this trip we play some of the holes of the Longest Links, the world’s longest golf course, in a friendly competition between us all. 

Join us on a 12 night fully accommodated tour, travelling in comfortable 4 wd vehicles, with all meals and attractions included in the price.

Tagalong option

Have you got a 4wd that you would like to put through its paces?
We will give you peace of mind travelling in a convoy of vehicles with competent guides, who are great bush mechanics.  Learn about your vehicle’s capabilities, absorb some get-out-of-trouble tricks and pick up some great hints for touring meals and campfire cooking.

One of the extra features of our Tagalong option is that we want to make our groups cohesive, so we include the following

  • All meals are included in the price and you dine as part of the group.
  • All  entry fees into attractions.
  • Motel accommodation
  • Car ferry to kangaroo Island
  • Price is for a vehicle with 2 people.

Itinerary

DAY 1

We pick you up from your accommodation or previously arranged spot and start on our adventure.

DAY 2

This morning we head out to the start of the Eyr

DAY 3

We’re off the beaten track today and doing some four wheel driving down to

DAY 4

Continuing along the Eyre Highway w The Southern Right Whales visit the Head of the Bight every year to mate, give birth and socialise.

DAY 5

Circumstances permitting,  we take a ferry from Lucky Bay to Wallaroo and then drive onto Adelaide.

DAY 6

This morning we take a drive through the Adelaide hinterland to the ferry terminal at Cape Jervis. Another ferry ride and we are onto Kangaroo Island for two nights.

DAY 8

Today we explore Kangaroo Island, 10 000 year old and formed when rising sea levels separated a piece of land from mainland Australia. A small group of Aboriginal people lived there until 2000 years ago but why they disappeared is unknown. These days it is very much alive and offers fantastic beaches, authentic food and drink experiences, untamed landscapes and abundant wildlife.

DAY 9

Today returning to the mainland on the ferry we
head via the town of Goolwa, on the Murray River. Goolwa is a historic river
port near the Murray River Mouth and joined by a bridge to Hindmarsh Island. From
there it’s onto Tailem Bend.

DAY 10

Today  we travel onto the picturesque town of Mt Gambier. South Australia’s Limestone Coast has over 50 water filled sinkholes and more than 800 caves. These features are a product of the areas volcanic activity around 5000 years ago. Time to explore the region and take in attraction such as the old volcanic crater of Blue Lake and Umpherston Sinkhole as well as the Cave Gardens in the centre of town.

DAY 11

Today we take the Great Ocean Road; this spectacular drive hugs the seaside cliffs that snake along the wild and windswept Southern Ocean. The highlight of the Great Ocean Road is the 12 Apostles: these soaring pillars have been chiselled out of limestone over 10 million years ago. We stop at Teddy’s Lookout to admire the famed sea stacks, which tower above the ocean

DAY 12

Today it’s onto Melbourne! Our last day puts us in this vibrant city, ranked as the most liveable in Australia. There’s some time to explore before our farewell dinner  and the end of the adventure.
