Have you got a 4wd that you would like to put through its paces?
We will give you peace of mind travelling in a convoy of vehicles with competent guides, who are great bush mechanics. Learn about your vehicle’s capabilities, absorb some get-out-of-trouble tricks and pick up some great hints for touring meals and campfire cooking.
Tour price upon application. Per vehicle, for 2 people. Cost includes all meals and motel accommodation.
Itinerary
DAY 1
Today we pick you up from the airport before transferring to our hotel. We take a tour of Cairns before a group dinner.
Inclusions: airport transfers, dinner.

DAY 2
This morning we start our tour, heading out through the Daintree rainforest before taking the Bloomfield Track.
This iconic 4wd remote track takes us up via numerous creek crossings, Wujal Wujal Falls and Cape Tribulation.
Tonight we camp at the Lion’s Den Hotel.
Inclusions: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

DAY 3
Heading our from the Lion’s Den, we travel past Black Mountain, or Kalkajaka, a place of mystery to both indigenous and non-indigenous alike: numerous people and livestock have disappeared here without trace.
Another place of interest is Archer Point, where a remote lighthouse stands on a windy hill; this warning beacon has been there since the 1880s. From here it is onto Cooktown and a visit to the Botanic Gardens before settling into our accommodation.

DAY 4
Today’s travelling sees us heading along Battlecamp Road into Lakefield National Park. We stop to take in the beauty of Isabella Falls and the historic Old Laura Homestead before continuing onto our overnight stop at Musgrave Roadhouse.

DAY 5
This morning we cross the Great Dividing Range to visit the old gold mining town of Coen. There are some pictureque river crossings at Archer River and the Wenlock River, site of the historic Moreton Telegraph Station. We set up camp at Bramwell before taking a diversion to explore a little of the Old Telegraph Track.

DAY 6
We drive on up the bypass road to the amazing swimming hole of Fruit Bat Falls. From there it is onto our afternoon ferry crossing at the Jardine River.
Travelling on up, we pass through the town of Bamaga before reaching our idyllic tropical campsite at the town of Seisa (3 night stay).

DAY 7
Today is what we’ve been waiting for: we travel up to the most northerly point of Australia. Cape York or Pajinka!
It’s a drive through the rainforest and then a short walk over the exposed rocks to actually stand right at the tip. From there we travel out to the historic abandoned settlement of Somerset before heading back to camp, via a stop at the famous Croc Tent, where you can buy a souvenir commemorating your trip.

DAY 8
Thursday Island is our destination today: a short ferry ride into the Torres Strait.
You visit Green Hill Fort, Torres Strait Historical Museum, and the Japanese Pearl Divers Memorial and have some free time to wander around the town before returning to Seisa in the late afternoon.
Inclusions: Breakfast and Dinner (packed lunch can be provided if requested).

DAY 9
Heading down from Seisa, we retrace our steps along the Peninsula Development Road.
Our overnight stay is at Archer River Roadhouse.
Inclusions: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
Accommodation: camping.
DAY 10
Travelling down the road from Archer River we head to the little town of Laura and our overnight stay.
The importance of Laura lies in its remarkable Aboriginal artworks. It is recognised as one of the most important archaeological study sites in Australia. Archaeologists have found evidence that the rock art is at least 15,000 to 30,000 years old.
The area is famous for its strange mythical figures known as Quinkans.

DAY 11
We head south through rolling savannah to Quinkan Country and the 30,000-year-old rock art galleries at the Split Rock sandstone escarpment.
Travelling down the Mulligan Highway, pas the tropical fruit farms, we take a break at Palmer River, site of one of the first goldfields in Queensland, before heading back into Cairns.
We have a farewell dinner to conclude the success of a great trip!

DAY 12
Today we offer you free time in town before transferring you to the airport for your flights.
